The largest mail facility in the Southern Hemisphere has opened at Redbank ahead of what Australia Post predicts will be its busiest peak Christmas period in history.
The new $240 million facility at Redbank Motorway Estate is the size of eight football fields, has more than 500 people employed on site and is loaded with technology including Automated Guided Vehicles, robotic arms and parcel pickers. It will be able to process 700,000 parcels per day at full capacity.

WORK will begin within weeks on building the multi-billion Queen’s Wharf development set to transform the Brisbane cityscape.
Australian-based global construction giant Multiplex has been awarded preferred contractor status for the major components of the $3.6 billion tourism precinct in the CBD.
It will include the main integrated casino resort building with its eye-catching arc-shaped facade overlooking the Brisbane River and the iconic 100m-high Sky Deck with 360-degree views of the city.

Brisbane is like a car where the engine is revving but it can’t move forward because the handbrake is on. The city’s property market is poised for an up-cycle but, according to the generalised price data published in mainstream media, it’s not yet happening.

Cr David Morrison said work could now officially begin at the Ashburn Rd site to build the retail warehouse, which will be the equivalent in size to two football fields. Cr Morrison said the US Company had set an opening date for between September and December 2018. “The accessibility of the site to a large regional catchment with good access to Ipswich, the western corridor of metropolitan Brisbane and regional areas further west, which is expected to grow, interested Costco most.
“The proposed development will provide a net community benefit through investment in the local area, potentially acting as a catalyst for investment in the region, and will contribute to local employment initially through construction then long-term sustainable employment through the operational phase of the use.”
Division 4 Councillor Kylie Stoneman said Costco would be a huge boost to the area as the premises would employ 330 full-time and part-time staff, open seven days a week with extended trading hours, provide 823 on-site car parking spaces, and discount petrol at its service station.
